In Betania Island routine life is not too complicated and it is similar to the other coastal villages in western coast of Madagascar. Fishing and making canoes, Sakalava pirogue are the main profession of them. They fish according to tide and depend on season, with hook or net and often most of their hunting consists of vast species of fishes and octopuses and colorful marine fauna.
